The very first [kon]!
Eight years ago, in the fall of 2015, everything revolves around ›SEX‹. It's not just the phallic cactus on the cover that questions our (viewing) habits in issue No. 1: In articles on Fem Porn, the Playboy Mansion, Günther Grass and bondage in Japan, we dismantle clichés and deconstruct ›SEX‹ as a concept. Our debut poses questions about the relationship between nature and culture, eroticism and literature, the human and the animal. In it, witty analyses of Anastasia's inner goddess from Fifty Shades of Grey are set side by side with essays on cannibalistic desire for the Other in Heinrich von Kleist and Italo Calvino. Fresh readings of eros, empowerment and narrative conventions in Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Americanah meet touching stories of fleeting encounters and empty red boots. The ›SEX‹-[kon] is not only a great read thanks to the fantastic contributions of our authors – it’s also a piece of [kon] history you can take home with you.
Still printed on loose newspaper sheets, the essays, interviews, feature articles, poems and short prose pieces can constantly be (?) rearranged – sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose – creating unexpected connections between the diverse contributions. In 2015 – two years before Iris Osswald coined the phrase ›Oversexed and underfucked‹, the same year every cinema in Munich screening the movie Fifty Shades of Grey was sold out on Valentine's day – the first [kon] asks about the meaning of ›SEX‹.
