'Cities Look Like Teeth' is an artist’s book chronicling a decade of travels across Europe incorporating laser-cut photography and letterpress-printed text responses. From Copenhagen to Milan, from Lyon to Novi Sad, I toured with bands as musician, tour manager, driver, merch seller; the book is thus an interrogation of location, memory and chronology. Each city is represented by a photograph taken during a visit and a poetic text-fragment written during or afterwards.

About — I am a visual artist working with print, language and geography, primarily using letterpress printing to make typographic artworks that range in scale from artist’s books to art prints to large scroll installations. My work is often site-specific and considers how experience of place can be represented. My influences come from sources as varied as vernacular maps, data visualisation and Ken Campbell’s artist’s books. I frequently show at fairs around Europe and have been artist-in-residence at Industriemuseum (Gent, Belgium, 2021), Bodleian Library (University of Oxford, 2019) and Wells Book Arts Center (New York state, US, 2017). My work is held in collections such as the British Library (London), Bodleian Library (University of Oxford), Museum für Druckkunst (Leipzig) and University of Bergen. I am a current Visiting Fellow at the British Library researching 20th century works of oppositional nature from graphic art and print culture in the Americas.
