Lucía C. Pino delves into the political dimension of the night, a space where characters, shaped by reality and otherness, move between fear, desire, class, gender, and race. “Whatever you are, it’s great that you’re here,” she says. “The night shift devastates, lurks, approaches,” she says. “Beginnings and endings are forbidden,” she says. In Crines—a somatic writing exercise that straddles poetry and narrative—precarity, loss, and survival at the edge pervade everything, glowing like lamé and glitter, dark like a window that does not show the sky. “Everything is body, architecture, and text,” she notes on a piece of silk paper tucked in her pocket as she counts her steps in kilometers of urban pathways that activate words, intersections, and transformations.

Lucía C. Pino explores sensuality and desire as tools for emancipation and transformation. Her artistic practice reveals how elements of various natures (textual, graphic, material...) perform until they lead to an affirmation of sculpture as both process and program, uncovering new aesthetic and meaningful potential. This book marks the first time her writing is showcased.
