In the inaugural issue of Dàme, the focus is on the tummy, which serves as a starting point for delving into broader and more complex themes. Over the years, there have been studies reconstructing social and cultural meanings associated with body parts such as the female breast and vagina. However, until now, no one had focused on the belly because it had never been present in the collective imagination, except as the womb. Therefore, it was decided to explore this equally richly significant part of the body. The tummy is a symbol of hospitality, an ancestral and profound metaphor for fertility, but it is also the place of feeling where emotions communicate their messages to the body. The belly is the subject of an endless debate on often unrealistic aesthetic standards imposed by decades of empty advertising campaigns.

Within the pages of Dàme 01, not only is the diversity of our bellies showcased, from toned abs to pregnant bellies, but also associated themes are addressed, such as the menstrual cycle and gender identity, sexuality, age, and fatphobia. This issue of Dàme aims to uncover stories, symbolism, and stereotypes related to the belly and raise awareness among readers about the perception of women and their forms.

The publication also features contributions from figures such as Jennifer Guerra, author of "Capitale Amoroso," Chiara Meloni, activist, illustrator, and founder of Belle di Faccia, Veronica Yoko Plebani, Paralympic athlete, and Norma Rossetti, CEO of MySecretCase.
