Anna López Luna and Mounir Gouri met in 2017 during an artist residency in Algiers. The alchemy is direct and obvious as both of their art is inhabited by fluids and resistant creatures, human and carnal components carried by a penetrating gaze on the world mixed with fear towards its evolutions. Desires Without Visa brings together their highly complementary works on a theme dear to each artist as the uprootedness and the justice first and foremost. From watercolor to charcoal to photo and video, and color to black, the pages of this book tell a story of humanities that closely resembles one of them.

This book received the support of La Casa de Velasquez.

About — EYD is an independent publishing house created in 2018 by Caroline de Greef that aims to explore and promote contemporary photography by publishing artist books. Time and its daily lyricism are thus at the heart of the various works published by the young publishing house.

The desire to bear witness to this world and the intention to introduce emerging artists is also just as tenacious as the desire to support them over time. This young catalogue shows today's world with its human failings and ordinary miracles and will continue to be built according to these themes.

The collaboration with artists is intended to be sustainable as a mutual support and a shared emulative trust - like that which binds the artist Ilanit Illouz and EYD, the first published artist whose work has since been rewarded and acquired by numerous institutions (Jeu de Paume, Paris Photo, Prix du Public Arles 2021, etc.).

EYD works with photographers and artists Élise Toïdé, Thomas Gauthier, Tokio Okaida, Anna López Luna, Mounir Gouri.
