Dancing is an experience that resists being told. Its memory needs moving bodies to resurface. Aware of this, the author draws on a personal and expansive experience of dancing to incorporate its gestures into her writing. Following the methodology of musical edits, where a musician creates different versions of their own tracks, this book is a sequence of remixes, where each part reworks the previous one and preludes the next.
In much the same way that a single body can be (co)moved by different musical scenes, Edit traverses language, seeking in words the "accessible, superficial, and sensory" qualities of music. Between the anonymity of the dance floor and the individual voice, these texts continue and anticipate shared gestures, assembling stories through dancing bodies.
Sonia Fernández Pan researches and writes through art. She curates exhibitions, produces podcasts, and dances anonymously on the dance floor. Driven by intimacy and the desire to think with others, her perception of art and dance culture continues to evolve through the exchange of gestures and experiences between both scenes. Her passion for music has led to various curatorial projects. After living in Barcelona, she has been based in Berlin for some time.
