This book tells the story of what happens when an attempt is made to transform one of these institutions—the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt, where Deliss served as director—into a living organism where contemporary thinkers and artists can translate, reinterpret, and give new meaning to everything the museum holds.

Clémentine Deliss, a Franco-Austrian curator and cultural historian, works across the boundaries of contemporary art, curatorial practice, and critical anthropology. As a teacher and researcher in institutions around the world, her practice is rooted in transdisciplinary and transcultural dialogues in contemporary art and museology. She is Professor of Global Humanities and Art History at the University of Cambridge and Associate Curator at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin.
