El otro lado is a fanzine filled with personal testimonies responding to one question: How did you discover the other side? 23 people share how they were initiated into that "other side"—the hidden, the counterculture, the underground. The strange music, weird films, odd comics. Things that didn’t appear on TV, things your parents hated, and your schoolmates didn’t understand. It’s the moment when that part of you that didn’t quite fit in with your surroundings suddenly found its purpose and discovered its home.

This first issue mainly focuses on people from the music world. Inside, you’ll find testimonies from members of Espanto, Montañas, Juanita y los Feos, Caliza, Patrullero Mancuso, Juventud Juché, Cohete, Bananas, Rata Negra, Hardcute Ukelele, and La Estrella de David.

There are stories from men and women across the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. These testimonies talk about vinyl records, tapes, comics, television, the internet, pianos, and concerts. You’ll hear from people from Galicia, Andalucía, Asturias, Logroño, and Madrid. All the stories are touching and fascinating, with a shared sense of the excitement and shock of discovering something different, something new, whether it happened suddenly or gradually. It’s that almost illicit or frowned-upon feeling, something that makes you feel different—and often, gets you hooked.

En lo oculto, la contracultura, el underground. La música rara, el cine raro, los cómics raros. Aquello que no salía por la tele, aquello que odiaban tus padres y que no entendían tus compañeros de colegio. El momento en el que esa parte de ti que no encajaba del todo en tu alrededor, encontró de repente su razón de ser y conoció su hogar.

Este primer número está centrado principalmente en gente del mundo de la música. Así en sus páginas encontraréis testimonios de miembros de Espanto, Montañas, Juanita y los Feos, Caliza, Patrullero Mancuso, Juventud Juché, Cohete, Bananas, Rata Negra, Hardcute Ukelele o La Estrella de David.

Hay testimonios de hombres y mujeres, de los 60, 70, 80, 90 y dosmil. Testimonios sobre vinilos, cintas, cómics, la tele, internet, pianos y conciertos. Gente de Galicia, Andalucía, Asturias, Logroño o Madrid. Testimonios interesantes y entrañables todos ellos, y que tienen en común la emoción y el shock del descubrimiento, ya sea de golpe o gradual, de que están ante algo distinto, algo nuevo para ellos, una sensación casi de estar haciendo algo ilegal o mal visto, algo que te hace sentirte diferente, y que, casi siempre, engancha.
