Following his contribution to the collective book Y todos tus días malos (Libros Walden, 2020) with the stories Tan corto y huidizo and De piel cuarteada, we now present Julián Cruz’s new book, La casa de los cerdos. This collection of four stories centers on characters who each face a contradiction:

In La familia del tigre (The Tiger’s Family), Estrella is caught in the crossroads of accepting and denying the violence inflicted upon her; in La casa de los cerdos (The House of Pigs), the ravages of war fail to crush a teenager’s hope; in La conducta de una paloma (The Behavior of a Dove), an old friendship collapses due to the arrival of a third party; and in Telaraña (Cobweb), an entire family is ensnared in the horror that emerges from the pages of a stranger’s diary.

Though they live in different times and places, all the characters share the same determination to cross the threshold that challenges them, revealing that the true meaning of the search lies in the act of moving forward.

The book includes a foreword by Julián Hernández, member of Siniestro Total.

There’s no blurring in the stroke or poorly adjusted lens in the observing eye: the strength of these stories lies in the clarity of their ideas and their execution. Intrigue and suspense join the party.
