Libros Walden presents Maleficio, a collection of stories marking George Wylesol's first title published in Spanish.

Deserted hospitals, tranquil forests, parking lots behind shopping centers, houses for sale, buses in the snow, hidden television channels, found objects, industrial parks, and video games without players—George Wylesol finds the unsettling in all of these. These are liminal spaces with something waiting just around the corner. But in the stories of Maleficio, there is also a strange, hauntological, and emotional nostalgia for abandoned buildings or the early internet.

Maleficio blends ordinary places with strange characters and surprising, subversive stories, combining horror with humor and various drawing styles, reflecting the multiple visual influences of today's online world. Using different techniques, textures, and effects—ranging from the visual neutrality of airplane safety instructions to hand-drawn styles, photocopies, or video game aesthetics, and with a striking use of color—George Wylesol proves himself to be one of the most ingenious and innovative comic artists today.

"A bold artistic statement. A poem of subtlety and extravagance." — Comics Beat

"Wylesol impresses not only with his innovative approach to the comic page but also with the dark humor that lies within." — Broken Frontier

"If I had to say what he does not only very well, but probably better than anyone else in comics right now, it would be conveying the nature of tension and apprehension." — Four Color Apocalypse

"Wylesol's illustrations may seem clean and simple, but within those empty spaces there is not only extremely saturated color but also overwhelming anxiety and desolating loneliness. This collection of stories is truly funny, if you're a bit psychotic." — Secret Headquarters

"I believe a character doesn’t have to be a person or even a living thing. Sometimes, in real life, objects or places can have ‘personality.’" — George Wylesol
