The last day of Mishimas life has very few hours. And all of them, until the last moment in which everything goes wrong, will be configured as a vital tribute to a spiritual force that, of course, we can hardly understand. A drastic day. Volcanic. Completely outside of any coherent metric. Measurable more like a work of fiction than a chronicle. A day in the 70s in which four men travel to another time. To another world, to a place populated by characters who, although they may not seem real to us, were undoubtedly obvious references to them. A world of strangely mannered Noh actors under large colored neckties, a country of geishas and samurai, of warriors with bloody swords, a world, too, in which ordinary people, under conical hats, shopped and chatted in the quiet streets of Tokyo. While, in the background, to the south-west, the immutable and perfect silhouette of Mount Fuji watches. And he does it with the tension of someone who is, despite everything, a volcano.
