In the immeasurable and frenetic creative activity that followed the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, one aspect intrigued us greatly: those magnificent architectural projects that appear in all the books of the time but were never built. Many of them follow the creative patterns of constructivism, conceptual works that found continuity in the creation of cities and neighborhoods around the world.
On the other hand, one of the key figures of all the Soviet avant-garde movements, El Lissitzky, contributed in a definitive way to the fusion between these architectural conceptual structures, that is, three-dimensional, with the two-dimensional structures that define the pictorial. Over the course of a decade he developed a series that he called Proun in which the classical structures of space were challenged through a complex superposition of dimensions and planes. Our research has led us to presuppose architectural structures in those paintings, and of course, as such we have thought that they could be built.
